PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jean Sebastian Joly (ranked 3813 p4p, 5545 weight class) and Earl Wilson (ranked 484 p4p, 600 weight class). Wilson has chosen My wish as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Jean Sebastian Joly has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jean Sebastian Joly seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jean Sebastian Joly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Earl Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joly scores with a body shot.
Wilson dives in and grabs Joly's left leg, looking for a takedown. Joly pushes down on Wilson's head and hops out.
Joly sizes up Wilson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

It looks like Earl Wilson has been cut.
Wilson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Joly moves into the clinch.
Joly lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Wilson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wilson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Wilson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Joly manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joly is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wilson defends well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wilson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Joly is just riding it out for now. Wilson eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Joly wants to control the action here but instead Wilson manages to pass to full mount!

Joly reaches up to try and control the position but Wilson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Joly rolls and tries to escape and now Wilson has his back!

Wilson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Joly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wilson has managed to get both his arms back between Joly's legs - danger averted.
Wilson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wilson chips away with some ground and pound.
Wilson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Joly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Joly definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Joly lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Wilson goes down and covers up as Joly starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Sebastian Joly!
In defeat, Earl Wilson stepped up to the mic, saying 'Thank fans'.
