PBP Commentary

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Mbappe!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anders scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mbappe in his tracks.
Anders swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mbappe.
Anders lands a jab-cross combination.

Mbappe looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Mbappe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Mbappe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Mbappe wants to pass the guard but Anders is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Anders circles away from the clinch attempt.

Anders avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mbappe.

Mbappe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
It looks like Mbappe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Mbappe wants to pass to mount but Anders is defending the position.
Mbappe looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mbappe in particular looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Mbappe shoots in and gets a takedown into Anders's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Anders is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Anders will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mbappe manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Anders on his heels. He'll look to pass Anders's guard now, I'm sure.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mbappe is pushing down on Anders's leg trying to pass to half guard. Anders is fighting to maintain full guard but Mbappe has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mbappe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mbappe's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The adventures of Mbappe the control monster continue. Boring.
Anders is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mbappe scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mbappe moves into full mount! Anders won't be happy about that!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Mbappe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Anders's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Yet more stalling tactics from Mbappe.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mbappe feints and as Anders raises his hands in defense, Mbappe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Anders is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mbappe dives into side control.

Mbappe is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jean Mbappe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mbappe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
