The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Van Etten with that takedown attempt.
Van Etten connects with a solid leg kick.
Van Etten throws a push kick but Johnson slaps the foot to one side.
We've been told by Johnson's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Johnson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Garrett Van Etten has been cut.
Van Etten scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Johnson wants to stand back up but Van Etten manages to pass into side control.
Van Etten is working to tighten his grip on Johnson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Johnson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Van Etten is really squeezing tight and eventually Johnson passes out! Van Etten breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
