Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Killer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gracie looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Gracie is thwarting Killer's attempts to control the position.

Killer looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Killer makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Killer gets the takedown into side control.

Killer stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Killer has taken the fight to the clinch.
The referee calls for Killer to work.
Gracie takes an elbow to the temple.
Killer's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Killer breaks from the clinch.

Killer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Killer has managed to clinch.
Gracie trying to control the position but instead, Killer has worked for underhooks and has pushed Gracie into the cage.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gracie has eaten all the pies!
Killer goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gracie prevents it.
Killer landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Killer connects with a knee to the head.

Killer breaks the clinch.
Killer fails with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killer won't be happy with that.
Gracie prevents Killer from escaping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie wants to stand but Killer is controlling his arm.
Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Killer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Killer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Killer is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gracie has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Killer fails with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Killer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie uses his free foot to push down on Killer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Killer.

Killer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Killer trying desperately to get to his feet.
Killer trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gracie working for a submission but Killer is keeping him at bay.
Killer's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Gracie wants to control the pace but Killer is squirming around nicely.

Gracie stands up from mount. Strange move.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Killer.
Gracie ducks under a wild hook from Killer.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Killer throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Killer fails in his attempt to clinch.
Killer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gracie.
Killer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Killer throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Some wild striking there from Killer.
Gracie goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wanderlei Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gracie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Killer can pounce on him.

Killer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Killer showed some decent athleticism there.

Killer is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gracie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Killer wants to get back to his feet.
Gracie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Killer throws and elbow that misses. Gracie uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Killer's guard. Nice move by Gracie!

Killer is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Killer won't allow it.

Killer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Killer takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Killer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Killer circles away from the clinch attempt
and Killer counters with a right hand to the body.
Killer is looking to clinch.
Killer shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but Killer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt.
Mike Killer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Gracie.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Killer moves in looking to clinch but Gracie pushes him off.
Killer tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.
Killer throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.
Gracie slips under a jab from Killer.
Killer is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Mike Killer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Killer but Killer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mike Killer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Killer misses with a combination

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Killer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gracie advances to half guard.
Killer is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well.

Killer has one foot on Gracie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Gracie walks forward, straight into a front kick from Killer.
Killer tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Killer scores with a head kick.
Killer closes the distance but Gracie moves to the side
and Gracie counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Killer counters with a big head kick but Gracie shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gracie scores a takedown into full mount!
Gracie tries to control but Killer wriggling away.
Killer has given up his back here. Will Gracie look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Killer looking very determined here, making life difficult for Gracie.

Gracie looking for the choke but no joy.
Gracie connects with a big shot to the side of Killer's head.

Gracie has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Killer! Can he survive? No! He's out! Gracie gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
