PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joad Cressbeckler (ranked 615 p4p, 961 weight class) and Chace Chacing (ranked 100 p4p, 150 weight class). Cressbeckler comes to the cage accompanied by American Remains. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joad Cressbeckler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Chace Chacing!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cressbeckler misses with a body shot.
Chacing on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Cressbeckler keeps the fight on the outside.
Cressbeckler was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Cressbeckler scores with a nice right hand.

It looks like Chace Chacing has been cut.
Cressbeckler drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Chacing looks to clinch
and Cressbeckler counters with a right hand to the body.
Cressbeckler scores with a punch to the head.
Chacing throws an off balance right hand
and Cressbeckler makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Chacing throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cressbeckler half committed to a counter leg kick.
Chacing fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cressbeckler on the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chacing misses with a straight left.

and Chacing counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Chacing wants to advance to full mount but Cressbeckler doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Chacing looking to sit in guard and control but Cressbeckler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cressbeckler tries to free his leg and advance position but Chacing is retaining full guard.

Chacing is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cressbeckler defends well.
Cressbeckler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Chacing not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Chacing wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cressbeckler controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chacing looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cressbeckler passes into side control.
Chacing manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cressbeckler's best efforts.
Chacing is looking to improve his position.

Chacing tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Cressbeckler has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Cressbeckler gets his hands free as Chacing looks to control.

Chacing looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Chacing misses with a double jab.
Cressbeckler takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Cressbeckler throws a head kick that Chacing semi-blocks.
Chacing rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cressbeckler counters with a stiff right hand.
Chacing lands an overhand right.
Chacing ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Chacing throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Chacing rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cressbeckler moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cressbeckler scores with a sloppy right hand. Chacing should have avoided that one.
Chacing throws a series of punches but Cressbeckler avoids them all with ease.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cressbeckler on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Chacing throws a jab but it's blocked by Cressbeckler.
Cressbeckler tries to work over Chacing's front leg with a kick but Chacing checks it.

Chacing looks to land a combination but Cressbeckler avoids it well.
Chacing cracks Cressbeckler with a good jab.
Chacing might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Oooooh!!! Cressbeckler has knocked Chacing down with a huge combo! Cressbeckler steps away and waves a wobbly Chacing back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

That has opened up Chace Chacing's cut even more.
Cressbeckler misses with a head kick.
Chacing with the counter takedown but Cressbeckler avoids it easily.

and Cressbeckler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Chacing is still on wobbly legs! Can Cressbeckler finish him?
Cressbeckler misses with a hook. Chacing ducked under it nicely.
Chacing seems to have recovered his senses.

Chacing changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cressbeckler looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Chacing advances nicely into full mount.
Chacing fails to move to back control.
Cressbeckler is desperately trying to improve his position but Chacing has a good base and remains in mount.

Chacing wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Cressbeckler working to try and regain half guard.
Chacing trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Chacing working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Cressbeckler is controlling an arm, preventing Chacing from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Chacing moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cressbeckler has worked his arm free - good work by Cressbeckler!
Cressbeckler sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Chacing wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cressbeckler keeps working.
Cressbeckler is looking to control Chacing's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cressbeckler avoid being mounted?

Chacing seems to be looking for submissions.

Cressbeckler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chacing is working away from the top position though.
Chacing is keen to just control but Cressbeckler is a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Cressbeckler counters with a lovely shot to the body.

A close second round but Chace Chacing will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Chacing ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And Chacing tries to counter it with a takedown but Cressbeckler pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Chacing connects with a single shot there.
Chacing lunges at Cressbeckler with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Cressbeckler's hand.
We've been told by Cressbeckler's head coaches at GWad's Playpen that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Chacing takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Joad Cressbeckler is winning the standup battle so far.
Chacing has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cressbeckler throws a solid leg kick but Chacing takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Cressbeckler.
Chacing loads up on a big right hand but Cressbeckler slips the punch.
Cressbeckler is looking to counter punch.
Chacing fails to land with a series of punches.
Chacing throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cressbeckler's waist but Cressbeckler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chacing off to one side.
Joad Cressbeckler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chace Chacing.

Chacing throws a lazy uppercut

and Cressbeckler counters with a crisp one two that drops Chacing! Cressbeckler thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Chacing to his feet! Chacing is in big trouble!

The cut above Chace Chacing's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Cressbeckler slips a straight right by Chacing.
Cressbeckler lands a leg kick that knocks Chacing off balance momentarily.
Chacing throws a looping overhand right but Cressbeckler ducks down to avoid it.
Cressbeckler swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Sloppy strikes from Chacing. Those never looked like landing.

Cressbeckler throws a jab but it's blocked by Chacing.

Chacing tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

This has been an exciting period of action!

and Cressbeckler counters with a nice right hand that sends Chacing toppling to the canvas! Chacing scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Cressbeckler finish him?!

Chace Chacing's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Joad Cressbeckler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Cressbeckler counters with a huge left! Chacing is in big trouble! He's backing up but Cressbeckler isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Chacing from any more damage. A dominating finish by Cressbeckler!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joad Cressbeckler!
In his post fight interview, Joad Cressbeckler started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
