Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Pearson (ranked 4007 p4p, 3059 weight class) and Pain Killer (ranked 557 p4p, 451 weight class). Pain Killer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pain Killer!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Killer misses
and Pearson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Pain Killer has been cut.
Pearson misses with a straight right.
Pearson works Killer's body with a nice hook.
Killer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pearson circles away.
A quick step to the side and Pearson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Killer keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pearson's efforts to push away.
Killer lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Pearson backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Killer fails to pull guard.
Killer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pearson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Robert Pearson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pain Killer.
Pearson wants to get back to striking at distance but Killer won't allow it.

I was talking to Pearson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Killer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pearson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pearson tries to break free but Killer pushes him back against the cage.
Killer is pushing Pearson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Killer decides to pull guard.

Killer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pearson defends it easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Killer has his foot on Pearson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pearson works his way back into a safe position though.
Pearson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Killer keeping moving, preventing Pearson from controlling successfully.
Killer trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Pearson lands a really nice looking cross but Killer seems unphased.
Killer throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

and Pearson counters with a nice body shot.
Killer shoots in for a takedown but Pearson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pearson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Pearson throws out a loose jab but Killer uses good head movement to avoid it.
Killer moves out of range as Pearson strikes.
Pearson misses with a looping right.
Pearson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Killer darts in looking for a takedown but Pearson gets double underhooks and turns Killer into the cage.

Killer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pearson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pearson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Killer on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Killer shoots in for a double leg but Pearson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pearson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Pearson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Killer has a couple of punches blocked by Pearson.
Pearson has had enough of the clinch but Killer keeps him there for the moment.

Killer manages to break the clinch.
Pearson throws a looping overhand right but Killer ducks down to avoid it.
Pearson catches Killer with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Pearson throws out a loose jab but Killer uses good head movement to avoid it.

Pearson looks to throw the jab but Killer is out of range.

Pearson loads up on a big right hand but Killer slips the punch.

Killer rushes Pearson and presses him up against the cage.
Pearson is pressed up against the cage. Killer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pearson down to the mat. Pearson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Killer misses with a takedown attempt - Pearson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Pearson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Pearson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Killer circles away quickly and effectively.
Killer avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Killer lands with a kick to the ribs.
Killer fails to land the takedown.

Killer moves into range and clinches up with Pearson.
Pearson tries to break free but Killer pushes him back against the cage.
Pearson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Killer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pearson throws a jab but it's blocked by Killer.

and Pearson counters with a straight right hand.
Killer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pearson dips to his left and cracks Killer with an uppercut!
Robert Pearson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nice defenses there by Killer.
Nice straight punches there by Pearson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pearson.
Killer slips a straight right by Pearson.
And Killer tries to counter it with a takedown but Pearson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
The fighters circling - Pearson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Killer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pearson.
Pearson throws the left hand but Killer avoids the punch easily.

It looked like Pearson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Pearson connects with a single shot there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Killer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pearson sprawls well. Pearson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Killer gets slowly back to his feet.

Pearson sends Killer crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Pearson is motioning to the referee to let Killer up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Killer is rocked!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Killer gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Pearson points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Killer wakes up just in time to hear Pearson thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Robert Pearson!
