Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ian Laperierre (ranked 2929 p4p, 2281 weight class) and John Starman (ranked 346 p4p, 278 weight class). Laperierre comes to the cage accompanied by Tha Shiznit. Starman has chosen David Bowie - Starman as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Starman!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laperierre walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Laperierre swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Laperierre shoots in for a takedown but Starman shows good takedown defense.
Laperierre lands a leg kick that knocks Starman off balance momentarily.
Laperierre steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Starman.
Starman lands a right hook to the body.
A big right from Starman misses.
Starman moves out of range of the body kick.
Starman appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Starman connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Starman looks to land a right hand but Laperierre moved out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Laperierre takes one on the button.
Laperierre has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Laperierre is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Laperierre drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Starman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Laperierre has Starman in his guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Starman lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Laperierre has his foot on Starman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Starman works his way back into a safe position though.

Laperierre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Starman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Starman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Laperierre moves away.
Laperierre looks for the body kick but Starman saw that one coming.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Starman! But no joy.

John Starman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Starman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
