PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chakrii Weecharangsan (ranked 3356 p4p, 5588 weight class) and Warren Hawke (ranked 395 p4p, 543 weight class). Weecharangsan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sarama. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weecharangsan drives through and clinches with Hawke against the cage.
Weecharangsan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawke walks away with a smile on his face. Weecharangsan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Weecharangsan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Weecharangsan clinches up with Hawke and pushes him back against the cage.

Weecharangsan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hawke can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hawke looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Weecharangsan has picked Hawke up and slammed him! Hawke can't keep hold of the triangle and Weecharangsan manages to pass to side control!

Hawke is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Weecharangsan has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Weecharangsan seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Weecharangsan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hawke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hawke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hawke keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Weecharangsan's head.

Weecharangsan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hawke's guard.

Hawke has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Weecharangsan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Weecharangsan looks to land a combination but Hawke avoids it well.
Despite the aggression on Hawke's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

and Weecharangsan counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Weecharangsan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hawke sneaks out the side door and pushes Weecharangsan away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Weecharangsan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hawke swivels and escapes.

Weecharangsan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hawke on his heels. He'll look to pass Hawke's guard now, I'm sure.

Hawke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Weecharangsan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
