PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Greene (ranked 2404 p4p, 25002 weight class) and Clint River (ranked 126 p4p, 323 weight class). Greene's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Stepdad- Eminem. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Clint River was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Greene has a takedown stuffed. River scores with the left hand. Greene knows he should have avoided that one. Clint River seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Greene closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming River to the mat! River manages to get full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Greene wants to control from the top but River keeps moving. Greene is really struggling to control River but he's trying to hold on to the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greene trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but River manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Greene really is a fat lump. Greene had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. River defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Greene looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Greene tries to land a sweep but no joy. Greene not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
River wants to stand but Greene is controlling his posture from full guard. Greene might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Greene is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and River defends well. River looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Greene has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but River can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Greene has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think River should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Greene has tightened it up now! River should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ricky Greene!
