PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Hood (ranked 4020 p4p, 2903 weight class) and Kevin Mamar (ranked 439 p4p, 322 weight class). Mamar has chosen Slipkibieber - Psychosocial Babe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kevin Mamar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hood darts in and clinches Mamar up against the cage.
Mamar tries a body shot but Hood blocks it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mamar is on top in guard.

Mamar is looking to work some ground and pound but Hood has wrist control.

Mamar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hood does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mamar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hood knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mamar on the ground.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mamar lands a nice short elbow.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mamar unloads with some shots from mount but Hood bucks and avoids them well.
BOOM! Mamar connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Mamar lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Hood is rocked!
Hood is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mamar is landing with some decent strikes but Hood is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Hood is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hood holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Mamar tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Mamar! Hood is hurt baaadly! Mamar is firing away with more strikes - Hood is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
