Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Simon (ranked 104 p4p, 298 weight class) and Jason Stackhouse (ranked 15 p4p, 43 weight class). Stackhouse has chosen True Blood as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Stackhouse !
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Stackhouse misses the target.
Stackhouse misses with a leg kick

and Simon counters with a takedown into side control.
Simon controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simon wants to control but Stackhouse is keeping him busy.
Simon is really struggling to control Stackhouse but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Simon moves into full mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simon seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Stackhouse is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Simon has got his arm under Stackhouse 's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Stackhouse has spun round into Simon's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Simon is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Simon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stackhouse gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stackhouse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Simon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stackhouse has managed to get both his arms back between Simon's legs - danger averted.

Simon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stackhouse defends it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Simon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Stackhouse throws a hook but Simon blocks it.
Stackhouse moves forwards but Simon connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Stackhouse scores with a shot to the body.

Simon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Simon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Stackhouse prevents Simon from moving into mount.
Stackhouse is pushing Simon's head away, looking to escape. Simon manages to hold on to the position though.
Simon tries to move to mount but Stackhouse blocks the move with his legs.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stackhouse ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Simon moves away.

Simon shoots in but Stackhouse avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stackhouse throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stackhouse takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Stackhouse throws a jab when Simon was well out of range.
Simon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stackhouse was well out of range. Poor timing from Simon.
Simon looks to land a left hand but Stackhouse moved out of range nicely.
Stackhouse jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jason Stackhouse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stackhouse misses with a looping right.
Jason Stackhouse is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Simon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stackhouse 's guard.
Simon showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simon prevents Stackhouse from getting back to his feet.

Stackhouse is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stackhouse escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Simon darts in and clinches Stackhouse up against the cage.
Simon lands a shoulder strike.
Simon swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Simon looking for a takedown.

Stackhouse 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stackhouse waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Simon.
Simon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Simon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Simon slips a jab from Stackhouse .
Stackhouse scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Simon doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Simon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stackhouse .
Simon drops down looking for a counter takedown but Stackhouse sprawls and moves away.

Simon takes the fight into the clinch.
Stackhouse has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Simon changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stackhouse fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Stackhouse throws a lazy right hand but Simon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stackhouse on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Stackhouse swings for the body but Simon moves out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Stackhouse . That snapped Simon's head back.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stackhouse enables Simon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stackhouse manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Simon wants to control from the top but Stackhouse keeps moving.
Stackhouse is wriggling around but Simon manages to pass to half guard.
Simon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stackhouse keeps working.

Simon content to control rather than advance.
Simon is trying to control the action in half guard but Stackhouse is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stackhouse is trying to stand.
Simon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Stackhouse on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jason Stackhouse will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Simon is looking to take a break and control but Stackhouse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Simon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stackhouse keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee asks Simon politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Simon prefers to stall for the moment though.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Simon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Simon avoids the body shot from Stackhouse .
Stackhouse misses with a hook. Simon ducked under it nicely.
Stackhouse throws a hook but Simon blocks it.
Stackhouse lunges at Simon with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Simon's hand.
Stackhouse jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Simon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Simon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Simon is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Stackhouse will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Stackhouse is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Simon moves into full mount!

Simon jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Stackhouse is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Stackhouse and Simon has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Simon is trying to move to mount but Stackhouse reverses beautifully and ends up in Simon's guard.

Simon working for submissions but it's allowed Stackhouse to get to half guard.
It looks like Stackhouse is going to stand back up.
Simon is looking for a sweep. Stackhouse is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jay Simon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stackhouse passes into side control, despite Simon's attempt to control the position.
Simon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stackhouse wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
I wouldn't like to be where Simon is right now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stackhouse swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Simon attempts a counter takedown but Stackhouse avoids it well and moves away.

Simon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stackhouse 's guard.

Stackhouse might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Simon throws a looping overhand right but Stackhouse ducks down to avoid it.
Stackhouse swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
The fighters circling - Stackhouse throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

so Simon counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stackhouse is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Simon is controlling him.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Simon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stackhouse throws out the jab.

Stackhouse wants to get back to striking at distance but Simon won't allow it.
Stackhouse wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Simon has him pressed against the cage.
Simon swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Stackhouse 's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Simon.
Jay Simon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Simon tries to score a body lock takedown but Stackhouse shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simon lands with a hook. Stackhouse tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stackhouse throws a good cross that connects.
Stackhouse throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Stackhouse is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Simon gets his way!

Simon is persistently looking for the submission but Stackhouse is defending it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jason Stackhouse .
I think Stackhouse has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
