Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Pawlik (ranked 9 p4p, 18 weight class) and Artturi Reinikainen (ranked 1 p4p, 2 weight class). Pawlik comes to the ring accompanied by John Butler - Ocean . Reinikainen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Viimeinen päivä. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Pawlik! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 11 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Artturi Reinikainen! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pawlik shoots in and drives through. Reinikainen sprawls well. Good shot there by Reinikainen. Reinikainen throws a hook but Pawlik avoids it easily. Pawlik looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Pawlik darts in looking for a takedown but Reinikainen gets double underhooks and turns Pawlik into the ropes. Pawlik's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Pawlik fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Pawlik tries to score a body lock takedown but Reinikainen shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dick Pawlik. That's going to take a lot out of him. Reinikainen has a couple of punches blocked by Pawlik.
Reinikainen lands with a light punch inside. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Reinikainen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Pawlik blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Pawlik. Pawlik pushes Reinikainen back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head. Pawlik softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes. Reinikainen tries to work over Pawlik's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Pawlik lands with a right to the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Reinikainen. Pawlik misses with a hook from the clinch. Reinikainen misses with the head strike.
Reinikainen misses with some punches.
Reinikainen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pawlik throws an off balance right hand
and Reinikainen counters with a left to the body. Reinikainen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pawlik moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Reinikainen throws a hook but Pawlik blocks it. Pawlik lands a head shot. A big left from Pawlik misses. Pawlik backing away here, and Reinikainen unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Reinikainen staying out of range there. Pawlik takes a swing at Reinikainen's ribcage but misses. Pawlik moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromReinikainen. Pawlik ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reinikainen moves away. It seemed like Reinikainen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Pawlik drops his hands momentarily and Reinikainen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Reinikainen tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Pawlik manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Reinikainen doesn't manage to clinch there - Pawlik circles away.
Pawlik closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pawlik lands a nice shot to the body. Reinikainen presses Pawlik against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Reinikainen misses with the head strike.

Reinikainen swings wildly with an uppercut but Pawlik uses good head movement to avoid it. Reinikainen is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pawlik is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Reinikainen to the mat. Reinikainen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Pawlik looking to pass the guard. Reinikainen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pawlik's guard. Pawlik looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reinikainen is one step ahead there. Reinikainen postures up in Pawlik's guard and throws a big left but Pawlik blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reinikainen trying to control but Pawlik is working from the bottom. Reinikainen scoring with some ground and pound. Pawlik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Reinikainen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pawlik is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Reinikainen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Reinikainen won't allow Pawlik to sweep him here. Reinikainen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Reinikainen throws a big elbow that misses. Pawlik had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reinikainen defends it easily. Pawlik is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reinikainen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Pawlik avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Reinikainen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Reinikainen is posturing up here but Pawlik has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Reinikainen tries to roll out but it's too tight and Reinikainen has to tap! Slick submission there by Pawlik!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dick Pawlik! Dick Pawlik retains his lightweight title! Dick Pawlik bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
