The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.

Skelly closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Karter is trying to stand.

Karter has one foot on Skelly's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Karter.
Skelly half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Karter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Skelly tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Karter is in Skelly's guard.

Skelly has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Karter off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Skelly shoots in for a takedown but Karter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Skelly stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Skelly wants it to stay on the feet.
