CACC 198: Mondragon vs Sanchez PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 3 losses; Jesus Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Mondragon moves into range and clinches up with Sanchez.
Mondragon is fighting off a takedown attempt but Sanchez is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mondragon to the mat. Mondragon regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Mondragon (0) vs (2) Sanchez

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mondragon in particular looking to stall.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mondragon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sanchez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mondragon has managed to get both his arms back between Sanchez's legs - danger averted.

Mondragon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
