PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Salvacion (ranked 23560 p4p, 6816 weight class) and Poison Ivy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Poison Ivy was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bruno Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Poison Ivy!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ivy is fending him off so far but Salvacion persists. Nope, Ivy circles away and we're back to standing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ivy.
Salvacion tries to buck Ivy off but Ivy is having none of it.
Salvacion wants to control but Ivy postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Salvacion shoots in looking for a takedown but Ivy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Salvacion's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Ivy responds with a good body kick, but Salvacion manages to step out the way in time.

Ivy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ivy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Salvacion trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Salvacion wants to hold on but Ivy pushes him away.
Ivy controlling his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion wants to hold on but Ivy pushes him away.
Ivy controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Ivy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salvacion is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ivy controlling from the full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ivy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Poison Ivy dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ivy shoots in but Salvacion avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Salvacion appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Salvacion stuffs the takedown.
Ivy fails with a takedown attempt.
Bruno Salvacion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Poison Ivy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ivy closes the distance and clinches up with Salvacion, looking for a takedown. Ivy pushes Salvacion against the cage but Salvacion circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Salvacion looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Sloppy strikes from Salvacion. Those never looked like landing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ivy.
And Salvacion counters with a quick kick to the body but Ivy blocks it.
Salvacion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Salvacion quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ivy looking to score a takedown here. Salvacion is defending well but Ivy drives through and ends up in Salvacion's guard.
Ivy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Salvacion trying to control the position.
Salvacion working a defensive guard but Ivy manages to pass into side control anyway.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion struggling a bit here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ivy postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Ivy stands up.
Salvacion has a takedown stuffed.
And Ivy responds with a good body kick, but Salvacion manages to step out the way in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Salvacion shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Salvacion showed some decent athleticism there.
Ivy is looking to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion is trying to control the action in half guard but Ivy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bruno Salvacion will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Ivy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salvacion quickly recovers to half guard.

Ivy is looking for a kimura here.
Ivy performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Salvacion preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Ivy is thwarting Salvacion's attempts to control the position.
Ivy is taking a breather. Salvacion says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ivy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ivy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ivy counters with a body kick.
Salvacion throws a push kick but Ivy slaps the foot to one side.
Ivy replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Salvacion blocks it well.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.
Ivy with the counter takedown but Salvacion avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ivy misses with a kick to the body.
Salvacion thinks about countering with a body kick.
Salvacion darts in looking for a takedown but Ivy gets double underhooks and turns Salvacion into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Salvacion. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ivy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Salvacion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Salvacion.
A little jabbing left from Ivy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Salvacion looks for a takedown but Ivy sprawls well.
Ivy is trying to counter with his kicks.
Ivy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Salvacion shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Poison Ivy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ivy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
