Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Garrett Van Etten (ranked 4575 p4p, 4693 weight class) and Djanko Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Garrett Van Etten has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Garrett Van Etten seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Garrett Van Etten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Djanko Jones! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones keeps the fight on the outside. Garrett Van Etten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck for Van Etten with that takedown attempt. Van Etten takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nice body punch from Jones. Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Van Etten doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones lands with a shot to the body. Jones bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Van Etten's head backwards. Jones bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Van Etten's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones scores with a hook. Van Etten misses with a takedown attempt and Jones counters by clinching up. Jones manages to break the clinch.
Van Etten drops his hands momentarily and Jones takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Van Etten tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Djanko Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Van Etten lands with a thumping leg kick.

Jones cracks Van Etten with a right hand to the side of the head. Jones should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Van Etten takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Van Etten tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Garrett Van Etten. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Van Etten dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Jones stalling the fight.

Van Etten is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Jones leaning against his opponent.
Jones digs a right hand underneath Van Etten's ribcage. Van Etten let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Jones is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Van Etten had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Van Etten walks into a left hand. Van Etten moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off. Van Etten fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jones lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Jones lands a slapping body shot.
Van Etten tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes. Jones lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Jones. Van Etten walks into a straight right hand from Jones. Van Etten fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away. Jones looks like he wants to counter punch here. Jones throws a combination that misses and Van Etten counters with a one-two to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones moves out of range as Van Etten throws a body kick.
Jones throws a right and a left that Van Etten avoids nicely. Van Etten misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Djanko Jones dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Van Etten tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Van Etten walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Van Etten. A jab from Jones does it's job there. Van Etten shoots and misses and Van Etten takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones scores with a nice right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round. Van Etten misses with a takedown and Jones counters with a lovely shot to the body. Jones drives through and clinches with Van Etten against the cage.

Van Etten breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Van Etten. The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Jones throws a series of punches but Van Etten avoids them all with ease. Jones scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Van Etten, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jones throws a counter combo. A lazy left from Jones finds it's target. Jones works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Van Etten fails with the takedown letting Jones counter with a right hand. Van Etten shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Van Etten's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones lands with a hook. Van Etten tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Van Etten shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Jones connects with a jab. Van Etten takes a jab right on the kisser.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones clobbers Van Etten with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Van Etten looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Van Etten persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing. Van Etten looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Jones stuffs the takedown. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Djanko Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Garrett Van Etten's cut. That's time! Van Etten's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Van Etten fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away. Garrett Van Etten is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Van Etten avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jones might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Nice footwork from Van Etten.
Van Etten is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Jones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Van Etten drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Van Etten is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Djanko Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The strikes coming from Van Etten are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Van Etten is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Van Etten moves into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Etten looking to control and managing it successfully. Van Etten with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jones can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Etten sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Van Etten jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jones manages to avoid the submission attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Van Etten stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Djanko Jones. I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
