PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jab Buckeye (ranked 3052 p4p, 2331 weight class) and Ralphie White (ranked 438 p4p, 340 weight class). Buckeye's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Right above it lil Wayne . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jab Buckeye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ralphie White!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White tries to clinch but Buckeye moves away

and Buckeye decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in White's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

White perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
White thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Buckeye's head.
White looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Buckeye with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
White passes to full mount!
Buckeye can't escape the position.
White looking to control and managing it successfully.
Buckeye is wriggling around trying to escape.
Buckeye tries to lock up and control but White gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White controlling from mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White trying to control but Buckeye is having none of it.
White sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
White looking to control but Buckeye is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Buckeye wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Buckeye is in bad spot here.
Buckeye prevents White from getting a body triangle.

White working for a choke but Buckeye is defending well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
White struggling to keep hold of the position.
Buckeye is trying to break free.

White working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
White lands shots from the back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buckeye breaks White's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Buckeye wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.
White trying to control the position here.
Let's hope that White has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
White is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Buckeye trying to control but White is working from the bottom.
Buckeye throwing strikes but missing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buckeye sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed White's guard.
White tries to get to full guard but Buckeye has control of the leg.
Ground and pound from Buckeye.
Buckeye wants to pass the guard but White is defending well.

Buckeye is looking for a kimura but White is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Buckeye to get the leverage.
White manages to get to full guard.
White pulls Buckeye in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Buckeye slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ralphie White dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

White throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Buckeye stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
White lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Buckeye at a distance.
Buckeye staying out of range there.
An attempted straight right counter from Buckeye misses the target.
Jab Buckeye is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
White paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Buckeye looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Buckeye fails with the takedown
and White counters with a right hand to the body.
Buckeye changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Buckeye manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
White scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
White scores with a body shot.
White connects with a body shot that sends Buckeye's belly button to the back.
White scores with a jab. Buckeye acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It looks like Jab Buckeye has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
White digs a good body shot into Buckeye's ribs.
Buckeye looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? White is fending him off so far but Buckeye persists. Nope, White circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jab Buckeye. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Buckeye fails to land the takedown.
White is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Buckeye rather than just go for the knockout.
Buckeye shoots in for a double leg but White sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
White keeps Buckeye at a distance using the push kick.
Buckeye doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
White wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
White throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Buckeye stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ralphie White seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Buckeye is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
White lands with an uppercut that bounces Buckeye off the cage and back into range.
White scores with a hook.

Jab Buckeye's cut is getting worse.
White and Buckeye are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. White throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Buckeye into next week! Ooooh that was huge! White knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ralphie White!
After winning the bout, Ralphie White thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
