Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Volkov (ranked 716 p4p, 2444 weight class) and Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 117 p4p, 341 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergei Volkov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Mendy. Volkov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mendy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Volkov lands a couple of digs. We've been hearing that Volkov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Volkov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Volkov scoring with some ground and pound. Mendy pulls Volkov in close to his closed guard and prevents Volkov from doing any damage or advancing position. Volkov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mendy's head. Volkov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mendy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Volkov is one step ahead there. Volkov with a flurry of punches that miss. Volkov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mendy working a defensive guard here.
Volkov landing some decent shots from guard. Mendy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This has been an exciting period of action! Volkov looking for submissions off his back. Mendy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendy prevents Volkov from improving his position. Mendy working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Mendy is nestled in close to Volkov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Mendy prevents Volkov from improving his position. Volkov is defending against the submission attempts here by Mendy.
Volkov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mendy is looking to advance position but Volkov won't allow it. Volkov looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mendy slips a nice elbow through Volkov's hands, connecting with Volkov's forehead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Volkov gets full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Volkov is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Mendy rolls with it to try and escape but Volkov cranks on the arm and Mendy is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sergei Volkov! Sergei Volkov was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
