Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ju Hicks (ranked 24329 p4p, 3977 weight class) and Cranky Weasel (ranked 521 p4p, 367 weight class). Hicks kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Can you dig it SUCKA (Booker T). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ju Hicks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cranky Weasel! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks walks into a straight right hand from Weasel. Hicks throws a lazy right hand but Weasel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Weasel swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hicks looks to throw a body kick and Weasel counters with a stiff right hand. Hicks throws a leg kick but Weasel sees it coming and moves out of range. Nice shot lands for Hicks. Hicks looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Weasel misses with a jab, cross combination.
An attempted straight right counter from Hicks misses the target. Weasel smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Weasel's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Weasel duly obliges. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Weasel.
A low kick lands for Hicks.
Hicks closes the distance and clinches. Weasel lands a left hand.
I was talking to Hicks's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Weasel scores with a shot to the side of Hicks's head. Hicks misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Weasel.
Weasel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Weasel drops Hicks with a beautiful combination! Hicks stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Weasel is looking for the KO!
Hicks is rocked!
It looks like Ju Hicks has been cut. Weasel slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Oh Hicks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Weasel lands a big uppercut and Hicks crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Hicks looks OK. Weasel waves Hicks back to his feet! Hicks walks straight into a right hand from Weasel - that's dropped him! Weasel jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Hicks from any more punishment! Hicks complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Cranky Weasel! The defeated Ju Hicks had this to say: 'Hats off to my opponent. I was off my game tonight and he capitalized. Seems to be a bad slump I amm in and cant get a win. My manager better read the tips and tricks and set my fight plan up better. '.
