Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Bright (ranked 2343 p4p, 3943 weight class) and Takahiro Yoshida (ranked 289 p4p, 463 weight class). Bright comes to the cage accompanied by Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead Or Alive. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Desmond Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takahiro Yoshida!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bright scores with a takedown into Yoshida's guard.
Bright trying to control the position from guard on top but Yoshida is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bright passes Yoshida's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Yoshida wants to get back to full guard.
Bright wants to take a breather but Yoshida is having none of it.
Yoshida looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bright is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Yoshida has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yoshida tries to roll over but Bright keeps him under control.

Yoshida is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Bright jumps into side control!

Bright swings around for an armbar but Yoshida sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bright's guard.

Bright has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bright is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yoshida defends well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yoshida accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bright looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Yoshida has picked Bright up and slammed him! Bright can't keep hold of the triangle and Yoshida manages to pass to side control!
Yoshida wants to control but Bright is keeping him busy.
Bright is trying to control Yoshida's posture but Yoshida avoids it.

Yoshida throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bright is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Yoshida controls the position.
Bright tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Yoshida wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Bright tries to bench press Yoshida off him but Yoshida keeps the position.

Bright is looking for a sweep.
Yoshida cracks Bright with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Bright manages to work his way to half guard, despite Yoshida's best efforts.

Bright is defending against the submission attempts here by Yoshida.
Yoshida throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Bright is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Yoshida is looking to work some ground and pound but Bright has wrist control.

Bright working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yoshida doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yoshida manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Takahiro Yoshida will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Yoshida throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bright tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Yoshida is in Bright's guard.

Bright is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Yoshida is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Yoshida seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bright does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Yoshida got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bright has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yoshida has managed to get both his arms back between Bright's legs - danger averted.
Yoshida has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bright isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Yoshida stacks Bright on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Yoshida!

Yoshida tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Yoshida moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Yoshida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bright on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bright tries to get out of the position.
Yoshida wants to control the pace but Bright is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bright wants to hold on but Yoshida pushes him away.

Takahiro Yoshida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Bright feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Desmond Bright.
I think Yoshida has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
