Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Forrest (ranked 2697 p4p, 3200 weight class) and Justin Freeman (ranked 362 p4p, 427 weight class). Justin Freeman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chuck Forrest!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Forrest finds it's target.

Freeman pushes Forrest up against the cage in a clinch.
Freeman is looking to take this one to the mat.

Forrest breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Freeman tries to clinch up but Forrest circles away and keeps his distance.

Forrest closes the distance and clinches.

Forrest manages to break the clinch.
Forrest keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Freeman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Forrest tries to counter with a takedown but Freeman is quick to defend against it.
Chuck Forrest has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Freeman.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Forrest has taken the fight to the clinch.
Freeman has Forrest pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Forrest manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Freeman has hold of one of Forrest's legs. Forrest is fighting the takedown attempt but Freeman gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Forrest controls Freeman momentarily but Freeman frees himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Freeman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Freeman trying to control the position from guard on top but Forrest is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Freeman prevents Forrest from getting back to his feet.
Freeman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Freeman wants to control from the top but Forrest keeps moving.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Freeman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Forrest tries to avoid it but Freeman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Forrest to the ground. Forrest escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Forrest goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Forrest scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Freeman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Forrest tries for a kimura but Freeman is defending well.
Freeman is trying to control Forrest's posture but Forrest avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Freeman is trying to maintain the position but Forrest is very close to passing his half guard.
Still in half guard, Forrest seems content to control.
Forrest tries to stand and escape but Freeman actually recovers to full guard.
Forrest looking to pass the guard.
Freeman is controlling Forrest's posture.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Freeman looking for a sweep. Not yet Freeman, not yet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Freeman shoots for a takedown but Forrest saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Freeman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Forrest.
Forrest tries to clinch but Freeman moves out of range.

Freeman tries a knee to the head but Forrest blocks it.

Forrest keeping moving, preventing Freeman from controlling successfully.

Forrest is working an open guard so Freeman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Forrest displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Freeman.

Freeman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Forrest pinned against the cage. Forrest gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Freeman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Freeman throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Freeman has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Forrest is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Freeman yanks on the arm and Forrest is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Freeman.
