PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joaquim Mourao (ranked 2313 p4p, 3245 weight class) and Barry Bonon (ranked 282 p4p, 391 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Joaquim Mourao has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joaquim Mourao seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bonon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mourao has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bonon has managed to get both his arms back between Mourao's legs - danger averted.

Mourao drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bonon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bonon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bonon!

Bonon shoots in looking for a takedown. Mourao tries to sprawl out of it but Bonon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mourao manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mourao has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bonon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mourao.
