PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Keizo Kasai (ranked 1156 p4p, 2454 weight class) and Alec Harvey (ranked 152 p4p, 306 weight class). Harvey has chosen Lemonade - Yungblud & Denzel Curry as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alec Harvey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvey throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kasai has been working on his boxing with his coaches at JAG Battle Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Kasai throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kasai on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A big left from Harvey misses.
Kasai misses with a series of wild punches.
Harvey swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Harvey throws a body punch but Kasai moves out of range.
Kasai is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Harvey.
Kasai lands a jab-cross combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harvey looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Kasai throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Kasai counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Harvey thinking.
Kasai feints a jab promting Harvey to slip. Kasai then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Harvey slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Kasai throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Harvey with the counter takedown but Kasai avoids it easily.

Harvey drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Harvey has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Harvey is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kasai to keep the fight standing.
Kasai lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kasai throws a head punch that misses.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kasai creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Harvey is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kasai to keep the fight standing.
Kasai lands a hook that snaps the head of Harvey backwards.

Keizo Kasai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alec Harvey.

Harvey is trying to pull guard but Kasai turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Harvey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kasai walks away with a smile on his face. Harvey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kasai fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Harvey to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Harvey looks to clinch but Kasai throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Harvey taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Keizo Kasai!
A very excited looking Keizo Kasai rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
