Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Aspirin (ranked 4717 p4p, 4972 weight class) and Johnny Malton (ranked 574 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malton sizes up Aspirin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Aspirin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Aspirin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Aspirin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Malton is working away from the top position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Aspirin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Malton defends it easily.
Aspirin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Aspirin lands a good elbow from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Malton trying to control the position from guard on top but Aspirin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Aspirin pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Malton back to the cage. Aspirin follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Aspirin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Malton.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ben Aspirin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Malton ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Malton no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Malton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aspirin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Aspirin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Malton for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Aspirin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Malton did well to prevent Aspirin getting side control.

Aspirin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aspirin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
