PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Rourke (ranked 5369 p4p, 24794 weight class) and Peter Starline (ranked 105 p4p, 206 weight class). Starline has chosen ULTRAnumb as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Rourke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Starline! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rourke misses with a wild combination.
Rourke wants to clinch up but Starline keeps it at a distance. Rourke pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Starline takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Sloppy strikes from Starline. Those never looked like landing. Rourke seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Oooooh!!! Starline has knocked Rourke down with a huge combo! Starline steps away and waves a wobbly Rourke back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Rourke is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Starline fails to land with a series of punches.
Oh Rourke is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A chopping leg kick lands by Starline. Starline misses with a double jab
and Rourke counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Starline! Rourke seems to have got his legs back now. A lull in the action here as Rourke stalls from top position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Starline can do anything to dispel that myth. Rourke works to advance to full mount. Starline defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Rourke controlling the position easily from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rourke's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rourke moves to back control. Rourke tightening his grip on Starline, looking for the choke. Rourke softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Rourke slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rourke throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Rourke keeps control of the position easily here as Starline tries to buck him off.
Rourke looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Starline fending off the submission attempt from Rourke. What can Starline do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rourke has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Rourke is striking well from the back but Starline escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being. Rourke content to control rather than advance. Starline tries to roll over but Rourke keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rourke with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Rourke seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Starline for as long as he can get away with. Starline is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rourke slows the pace down in half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Peter Starline will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Starline looks to land a combination but Rourke avoids it well. It looked like Rourke was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Starline scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Rourke fails with the takedown and Starline counters with a crisp one two that drops Rourke! Starline thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rourke to his feet! Rourke is in big trouble! Starline cracks Rourke on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Rourke falls backwards against the cage. Starline follows up with more strikes that drop Rourke to his knees. Starline keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Rourke! This one is all over!
