PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Full Time Panda (ranked 798 p4p, 1623 weight class) and Umberto Reem (ranked 31 p4p, 21 weight class). Reem has chosen Bad Reputation as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Full Time Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 21 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Umberto Reem!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Panda feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Reem has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Panda off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Umberto Reem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Panda takes a swing at Reem's ribcage but misses.
Reem tries to clinch up.
Reem takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Panda is defended easily by Reem.
Panda misses with a hook. Reem ducked under it nicely.
Panda avoids the body shot from Reem.
Panda avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Panda has been working on his balance at Crapollas Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Reem.
Reem misses with a few strikes there.

Reem misses with an uppercut. Panda saw that one coming.

Reem wants to clinch.
A head kick misses from Reem.

and Panda decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Reem's guard.
Reem wants to get back to his feet but Panda passes into half guard.

Panda not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Panda throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Reem to regain full guard.

Reem looking to hit a scissor sweep but Panda is one step ahead there.
Panda trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Panda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Panda throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Reem wants to sweep here but Panda controlling him for the moment.

Panda throws an elbow that misses. Reem uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Panda's guard. Nice move by Reem!

Reem won't allow Panda to sweep him here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reem wants to control from the top but Panda keeps moving.
Reem stopping the sweep attempt from Panda.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reem wants to stand but Panda has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Reem throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Panda swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Umberto Reem will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Reem throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Panda misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Reem counter with a right hand.
Panda throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Reem stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A nice inside leg kick there by Reem. That's going to slow Panda down.
Reem tries to clinch but Panda moves out of range.
Panda throws a hook but Reem avoids it easily.

Panda drives through with a takedown into guard.
Panda throws an elbow that misses. Reem uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Panda's guard. Nice move by Reem!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Panda is on top in guard.

Panda with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reem is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Reem is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Panda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Panda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Panda is working Reem over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Panda loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Panda throws a big right hand that misses.
Panda passes Reem's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Panda throwing shots but Reem is blocking nicely.
Reem preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Panda landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Panda drops an elbow to the side of Reem's head.
Panda missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Reem trying to get back to full guard but Panda takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Panda lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Reem! Panda sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Reem and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
