The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman throws an overhand right that lands on Adesanya's shoulder, as Adesanya tries to avoid the shot.
Backman misses with a body kick.
As Backman looks to move away, Adesanya throws a big counter combo but Backman just gets out of the way.
Backman throws a leg kick that is checked
and Adesanya counters with a two punch combo.
Backman lands with a shot to the body.
Backman lunges at Adesanya with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Adesanya's hand.
Backman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Adesanya takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Good standup being displayed there by Backman as he connects with a hook.
Nice straight punches there by Backman. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Backman.
Backman digs a good body shot into Adesanya's ribs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Backman thumps Adesanya with a low kick.
Backman throws out a leg kick but Adesanya moves out of range and Backman only half commits.
Adesanya moves forwards but Backman connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Backman is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Adesanya makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Backman throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Adesanya on the side of the head.
Adesanya's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Backman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Adesanya scrambles back to his feet.
Backman clobbers Adesanya with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Backman lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Backman lands with a nice combination. Adesanya backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Carlton Adesanya has been cut.
Backman throws a series of punches but Adesanya avoids them all with ease.
Backman has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Adesanya counters with a three punch combo that has Backman backing up. Backman nods at Adesanya to acknowledge the strikes.

Backman is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Backman keeps the fight on the outside.

Adesanya tries to clinch there but Backman circles away.
Adesanya is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Adesanya shuts the power down on Backman. Lights out, game over! Adesanya is your winner.
