PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Lenar (ranked 4083 p4p, 4095 weight class) and Bruce Lenar (ranked 543 p4p, 545 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruce Lenar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruce Lenar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter A looks to land a body kick but Fighter B moved away.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fighter B as he avoids it easily.
Fighter A misses with a wild combination.
Fighter B rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fighter A moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fighter A turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Fighter A is looking to clinch but Fighter B is avoiding it.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fighter A looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Lenar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fighter B darts in and clinches Fighter A up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B stalls.
Fighter B lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fighter A backwards.
Fighter A can't break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A is trying to pull guard but Fighter B has him pressed against the cage.
Fighter A tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fighter B smiles and moves away.

Fighter B has closed the distance and engaged Fighter A in a clinch.
Fighter A jumps guard but Fighter B turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Fighter A drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fighter B gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Fighter B breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fighter B lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Bruce Lenar has been cut.

Fighter B clinches.
Fighter B scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Fighter B breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fighter A closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fighter B circles away.
Fighter B stuffs the takedown attempt from Fighter A. Fighter A gets slowly back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Fighter B's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fighter B avoids a kick to the body.

Fighter B has closed the distance and engaged Fighter A in a clinch.
Fighter A looking for a takedown.
Nice body punch from Fighter B - that landed with a thud.
Fighter B scores with a shoulder strike.
Fighter A can't find room to land a body shot as Fighter B controls the action.
Nice body punch from Fighter B - that landed with a thud.
Fighter A is breathing heavily.
Fighter A misses with an elbow over the top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fighter B breaks from the clinch.
Fighter B throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Fighter A takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Fighter A fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fighter B throws a series of punches but Fighter A avoids them all with ease.
Fighter B lands a slapping body shot.

Fighter B closes the distance and clinches.
Fighter B cracks Fighter A with a nice body shot.

Fighter B breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fighter B moves into the clinch successfully.
Fighter B lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fighter B's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bruce Lenar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fighter A is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Fighter B.
Nice sprawl there from Fighter B as Fighter A shoots in.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fighter B clinches up with Fighter A and pushes him back against the cage.
Fighter A wants to take the fight to the mat but Fighter B manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Fighter B breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fighter B has managed to clinch.

Fighter B pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fighter B has managed to clinch.

Fighter B breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fighter B lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Fighter A fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B avoids it really well and circles away.

Fighter B closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lenar dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bruce Lenar's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Fighter B throws a right and a left that Fighter A avoids nicely.
Fighter A throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fighter B swats away the attempt to clinch by Fighter A.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fighter A is defended easily by Fighter B.

Fighter B moves into the clinch successfully.

Fighter B lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Fighter B takes the fight into the clinch.

Fighter B escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fighter B throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fighter A tries to counter by clinching up but Fighter B breaks away and moves out of range.
Fighter B throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fighter A seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Fighter A looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Decent striking displayed by Fighter B there.
A combination from Fighter A does no damage.
Fighter A tries to clinch but Fighter B is having none of it.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Lenar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fighter A tries to clinch but Fighter B is having none of it.
Fighter B rushes Fighter A with punches - Fighter A moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Fighter A goes down! Fighter B follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bruce Lenar!
Our winner, Bruce Lenar, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
