Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickson Torro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Donovan Douglass! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Torro moves in looking to clinch but Douglass pushes him off. Torro looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Torro shoots in but no luck this time. Nice sprawl there from Douglass as Torro shoots in. Douglass shoots and misses and Torro counters with a shoot takedown. Douglass fights it but they end up in guard. Torro looking to pass the guard. Torro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Torro forces his way into half guard. Douglass actively working from the bottom here. Douglass won't allow Torro to pass to mount. Torro is trying to work for a kimura but Douglass is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Torro sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Douglass defending well though. Douglass actively working from the bottom here. Torro is looking to advance position but Douglass won't allow it. Torro wants to take a breather but Douglass is having none of it. Douglass is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Torro pulls his head out easily. Torro is looking for a kimura but Douglass is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Torro to get the leverage. Torro looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Douglass with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Douglass working for a triangle but Torro defends it easily.
Torro is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Douglass is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Douglass has escaped and now he's on top! Torro working for a triangle but Douglass defends it easily.

Douglass works a leg free and moves into half guard. Torro tries to roll over but Douglass keeps him under control. Douglass frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Douglass is working for a guillotine from mount but Torro frees his head quite easily.
Torro regains half guard. Douglass is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Douglass looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Torro manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Torro wants to sweep but no luck. Douglass drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Douglass jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Torro manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Torro pushes down on Douglass's leg and manages to get into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Douglass trying to control here.

That was a close round but I would say that Rickson Torro will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Douglass drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Douglass wants to control from the top but Torro keeps moving. Torro working for a triangle but Douglass defends it easily.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Torro manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Douglass manages to get himself to full guard.
Rickson Torro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Douglass working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Torro doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Torro manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Douglass is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Torro rolls with it to try and escape but Douglass cranks on the arm and Torro is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
