Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Franz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franz shoots in and gets a takedown into Xxx's guard.
Franz's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Franz is looking to pass into half guard but Xxx pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Xxx is in guard.
Xxx preventing the sweep.
Xxx must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Franz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Xxx tries to kick Franz off but Franz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Franz wants to get back to his feet.
Franz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Franz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Xxx sees it coming and defends easily.
Franz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Franz tries to pass to full mount but Xxx defends it.

Franz is thwarting Xxx's attempts to control the position.
Franz content to control rather than advance.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Xxx gets caught flat footed, as Franz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Franz prevents Xxx from getting back to his feet.
Franz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Franz is looking to work some ground and pound but Xxx has wrist control.

Franz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Franz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Xxx trying to keep a closed guard but Franz is proving a slippery customer.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Franz darts in and clinches Xxx up against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Xxx gets tackled into the cage by Franz. Franz maintains the clinch.
Xxx misses with a hook to the ribs.
Franz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Xxx ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Xxx blocks a head kick by Franz.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Xxx! But no joy.
Xxx darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Franz is pressing down on Xxx's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Franz wants to sweep but no luck.

Franz has control of Xxx's left arm, preventing Xxx from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Franz holds on and takes a little breather.
Franz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Karl Franz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Franz is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Franz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Xxx's guard.
Franz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Xxx can do to turn this around?
Franz wants to pass the guard but Xxx is keeping the position.

Xxx really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Franz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's time! Franz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Franz drives through and clinches with Xxx against the cage.
Xxx is looking to break free of the clinch but Franz has double underhooks.
Franz has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Xxx regains guard immediately.

Franz throws an elbow that misses. Xxx uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Franz's guard. Nice move by Xxx!
