Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paddy OBrien (ranked 3081 p4p, 3447 weight class) and Wesley Shutes (ranked 411 p4p, 445 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wesley Shutes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paddy OBrien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Wesley Shutes!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shutes with a body punch. A glancing blow.
OBrien moves away from the strike by Shutes.
Shutes cracks OBrien with an open hand slap.
Shutes moves out of range of the strikes.
Shutes stuns OBrien with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
OBrien tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shutes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Shutes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It looked like OBrien wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
OBrien connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

OBrien throws a quick counter head kick but Shutes was just out of range.

It looks like Paddy OBrien has been cut.
I was talking to OBrien's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

OBrien tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shutes smiles and moves away.

and OBrien counters with a series of strikes. Shutes will be more careful next time no doubt.
