PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Jaktic (ranked 4000 p4p, 3976 weight class) and Dalton Swas (ranked 465 p4p, 464 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that William Jaktic has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily William Jaktic seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Jaktic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dalton Swas!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Swas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Swas is trying to drag Jaktic to the mat but Jaktic just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Swas has picked Jaktic up - he's going for a ride! Swas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Swas passes to side control.
Swas cracks Jaktic with a big elbow.
Swas looks up at the clock and then as Jaktic takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Swas smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Swas lands a decent elbow from side control.

Swas decides to stand back up. Swas steps back and let's Jaktic get back to his feet.
Swas stuffs the takedown attempt from Jaktic. Jaktic gets slowly back to his feet.
Jaktic dives in for a single leg takedown but Swas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Swas is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Jaktic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Swas successfully pulls guard.
Our spies down at at whitey's gym inform us that Swas has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Swas wants to sweep here but Jaktic controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Swas keeping moving, preventing Jaktic from controlling successfully.
Jaktic stops Swas from standing up.
Swas has control of Jaktic's left arm, preventing Jaktic from doing any damage.
Jaktic trying to control the position from guard on top but Swas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Swas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Swas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jaktic loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jaktic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jaktic being controlled here momentarily.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Swas is looking to stand up but Jaktic isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jaktic tries to clinch but Swas is having none of it.
Swas changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Jaktic dives in and grabs Swas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Swas pushes down on Jaktic's head and hops out.
Jaktic fails with the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jaktic looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck for Swas with that takedown attempt.
Swas is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jaktic sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Swas keeps the fight on the outside.

Jaktic throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Swas was covering up waiting for the punch and Jaktic finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jaktic tries to free his leg and advance position but Swas is retaining full guard.
Swas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jaktic's guard.

Jaktic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Swas on the ground.
Swas works over Jaktic with some ground and pound from guard.
Jaktic is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Swas is controlling him.

Jaktic being controlled here, momentarily.
Swas is in close to Jaktic's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Swas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Swas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jaktic is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Swas dives into side control.

Swas decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dalton Swas dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jaktic closes this distance looking for a takedown but Swas circles away.
Swas throws a head kick that misses.

Jaktic drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Swas struggling a bit here.
Dalton Swas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jaktic wants to control but Swas is keeping him busy.
Jaktic throws a strike aimed at the side of Swas's head but Swas avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Swas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Swas has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Swas is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Swas is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Swas wants to control but Jaktic postures up.
Swas is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Jaktic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swas keeps working.
Swas slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Swas keeping moving, preventing Jaktic from controlling successfully.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Swas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Jaktic shoots in and drives through. Swas sprawls well.
Jaktic tries to clinch up but Swas circles away and keeps his distance.
Jaktic shoots in looking for a takedown but Swas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jaktic's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Swas throws a fast counter high kick but Jaktic manages to duck under it in time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Jaktic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Swas clinches up with Jaktic and pushes him back against the cage.

Swas pulls Jaktic into guard.
Swas keeping moving, preventing Jaktic from controlling successfully.
Jaktic throws an elbow that misses. Swas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jaktic's guard. Nice move by Swas!

Jaktic pulls Swas in close to prevent any damage.
Jaktic has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Swas has passed into side control.
Jaktic is trying to control Swas's posture but Swas avoids it.
Swas happy to just control the position for now.

Swas tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Swas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jaktic keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jaktic prevents Swas from improving position.
Jaktic is trying to buck Swas off.
Swas taking a break here but Jaktic is having none of it and regains half guard.
Swas not doing much here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jaktic tries to kick Swas off in order to stand up. Swas Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dalton Swas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Swas gets a takedown into half guard.
Jaktic is looking to escape.
Jaktic moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Swas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Swas is continuing to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaktic wants to sweep but no luck.
Swas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Swas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jaktic's guard.
Swas is nestled in close to Jaktic, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Swas with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Swas is working for a submission of some sort.
Swas sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Swas prevents Jaktic from improving his position.
Swas trying to control from half guard but Jaktic is working away.
Jaktic tries to kick Swas off in order to stand up. Swas Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jaktic is pushing Swas's head away, looking to escape. Swas manages to hold on to the position though.
Jaktic being controlled for a moment.
Jaktic is trying to get back to half guard.
Swas connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jaktic some visible discomfort.
Swas slows the pace down.
Jaktic tries to buck Swas off but Swas is having none of it.
Swas advances to full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Swas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Swas sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Swas is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Nice sprawl there from Swas as Jaktic shoots in.
Swas steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
William Jaktic is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jaktic.

Swas manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jaktic on his heels. He'll look to pass Jaktic's guard now, I'm sure.
Swas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jaktic is looking to stand back up but Swas counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jaktic.

Swas is working for a kimura but Jaktic is defending it quite comfortably.
Swas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jaktic desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jaktic on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dalton Swas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Swas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
