Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Santos (ranked 2806 p4p, 3295 weight class) and Donald Fonald (ranked 345 p4p, 397 weight class). Santos comes to the cage accompanied by Nazareth- Let Me Be Your Leader. Donald Fonald has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos throws a head kick that misses.
Fonald stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Fonald wants to get back to striking at distance but Santos won't allow it.

Fonald throws out a counter right but Santos avoids it with no problem.
Fonald ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Santos moves away.

Fonald throws a right hand that Santos ducks under and follows up with a left that Santos also avoids with ease.

No joy there for Santos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Santos moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fonald misses with a two punch combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fonald lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Fonald lands with an overhand left.

Fonald tries to close the distance and clinch up but Santos swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Santos tries to land a front kick but Fonald steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fonald circles away quickly and effectively.
Santos throws a body shot but no joy.
Santos takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fonald throws a lazy right hand but Santos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Santos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fonald has escaped the position, nice work there.
Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fonald keeps working.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Santos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Santos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fonald has escaped the position, nice work there.

Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fonald keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fonald is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Santos tries for a kimura but Fonald is defending well.
Fonald pushes Santos away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Santos gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fonald is not content to let Santos control the position.

Santos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fonald, who protects the arm well.

Santos swings around for an armbar but Fonald sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Santos's guard.

Santos has Fonald pulled in close to control his posture.
Fonald would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Santos is looking for a triangle but Fonald pushes his legs off easily.

Santos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fonald doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fonald manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Santos wants to sweep but no luck.
Fonald wanted to stand there but Santos had control of the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Fonald feints a jab promting Santos to slip. Fonald then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Santos slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Fonald looks to score with a jab to the body but Santos is just out of range.

Santos tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Fonald manages to circle out of the way.
Santos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Fonald connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Santos scrambles back to his feet.

Santos has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Santos takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Fonald fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Santos to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Santos looks to clinch but Fonald throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Santos taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
