Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Art Bowers!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Spilles misses.
Spilles misses with a wild combination.
Bowers connects with a jab.

It looks like Peter Spilles has been cut.
Bowers slaps away a takedown attempt from Spilles, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bowers bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Spilles throws a hook but Bowers avoids it easily.
Bowers throws a push kick but Spilles slaps the foot to one side.
Spilles looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A telegraphed right hand from Bowers misses the target.
Spilles swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Bowers has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Spilles is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Spilles gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bowers takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Bowers walks into a stiff left hand from Spilles.
Bowers takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bowers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Spilles was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Bowers connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Spilles turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Spilles bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bowers cracks Spilles with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Bowers smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Spilles bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bowers wants to get back to his feet.
Spilles lands a nice forearm strike.
Spilles has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bowers prevents Spilles from moving into mount.
Bowers is not content to let Spilles control the position.
Bowers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spilles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Spilles happy to just control the position for now.

Spilles looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Spilles working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Spilles tries to move to mount but Bowers blocks the move with his legs.
Bowers wants to get back to his feet but Spilles is dominant here and he's now got Bowers's back!
