PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mysterious Mike (ranked 6195 p4p, 5304 weight class) and Earl Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mysterious Mike has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mysterious Mike seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mysterious Mike!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Earl Walker!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mike dives in and grabs Walker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes down on Mike's head and hops out.

Walker throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mike was covering up waiting for the punch and Walker finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Walker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mike is keeping the position for now.
Mike being controlled here, momentarily.
Walker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Walker happy to just control the position for now.
Walker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mike seems a little lost for a moment, as Walker dominates the positioning.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Walker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mike is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Walker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mike is keeping the position for now.
Mike working a defensive guard but Walker manages to pass into side control anyway.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Mike is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Walker wants to stand but Mike has his arm trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mike enables Walker to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mike manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mike wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Walker is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Walker postures up.

Mike looking for a guillotine here but Walker defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Earl Walker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Mike pushes Walker up against the cage in a clinch.

Walker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Walker shoots in and bounces Mike off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mike tries to strike from the bottom.
Walker's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker postures up.

Mike wants to sweep but no luck.
Earl Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Walker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Walker shoots in and bounces Mike off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Walker keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mike's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Walker passes Mike's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Walker seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ground and pound from Walker.
Walker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Walker is continuing to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Walker scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Walker is trying to control the action in half guard but Mike is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Mike slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Earl Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Walker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Walker wants to stand and escape but instead Mike has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Walker wants to get back to his feet but Mike passes into half guard.
Mike is looking to advance position but Walker won't allow it.
Walker is looking to escape.

Walker looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Walker is trying to get back to full guard.

Mike tries to stand but can't do so whilst Walker controls his leg.
Walker is trying to maintain the position but Mike is very close to passing his half guard.

Mike is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Walker sees it coming and defends easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mike gets caught napping as Walker dives in and scores a takedown. Mike manages to retain guard.
Walker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Walker wants to get up but he can't break Mike's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mike throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Walker passes into half guard.
Mike trying to control but Walker postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Walker passes to full mount!

Walker is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mike has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mike!
Mysterious Mike has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Earl Walker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Walker is controlling Mike's posture.

Earl Walker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Walker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
