Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Pain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nigel McGuiness! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pain looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Pain stops McGuiness from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGuiness is defending against the submission attempts here by Pain.
Pain seems to be looking for submissions.
Pain is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McGuiness defends it well. Pain seems to be working for a kimura but McGuiness defends the submission attempt. Pain seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGuiness looks like he's trying to stand up.
Pain looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pain walks into a straight right hand from McGuiness. McGuiness stuffs the takedown attempt from Pain. Pain gets slowly back to his feet. McGuiness throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pain. Pain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McGuiness tries to avoid it but Pain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McGuiness to the ground. McGuiness escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Pain is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pain showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McGuiness.
McGuiness throws a half hearted mid kick. McGuiness rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pain moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McGuiness throws a push kick but Pain slaps the foot to one side. Pain has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Max Pain has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGuiness throws a shot to the body.
McGuiness lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by McGuiness.
Pain is rocked! McGuiness finds Pain's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Pain flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. McGuiness lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Pain will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nigel McGuiness!
