PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Third Eye (ranked 300 p4p, 243 weight class) and Harvey Stallion (ranked 37 p4p, 28 weight class). Stallion comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Riding on the horses by Daryl Braithwaite kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Third Eye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harvey Stallion!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eye slips under a jab.
Eye connects with a good right hand that stumbles Stallion. Stallion circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Stallion shoots in but Eye avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Good work by Stallion as he checks the leg kick.
Eye motions for Stallion to come forward. Eye throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Eye has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Eye there as he acknowledges the shot.

Eye slips under a jab.
Eye swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Stallion.
Eye shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stallion closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Eye to the mat! Eye manages to get full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stallion is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Stallion throws a strike but Eye rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Eye has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Stallion working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eye doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eye manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Eye decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Eye swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and Eye takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Third Eye has been cut.
Eye looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

and Eye counters with a good low kick that Stallion was not able to check.

Eye tries to throw a body punch but Stallion avoids it by throwing Eye back against the cage.

Stallion throws out a counter right but Eye avoids it with no problem.

and Stallion holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Eye prevents a body shot from Stallion.

Eye pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Stallion's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Eye connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Stallion scrambles back to his feet.
Third Eye is winning the standup battle so far.
Stallion tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stallion's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

And that's the end of the fight!
Third Eye showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Eye, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
