PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tevin Felix (ranked 1063 p4p, 1048 weight class) and Gustav Line (ranked 162 p4p, 160 weight class). Line comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Heavy Metal we will die! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tevin Felix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gustav Line!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Felix throws out a loose jab but Line uses good head movement to avoid it.
Line leaves Felix with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Felix tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Line swivels and escapes.
Line waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Felix.
Line ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Felix tries to score a power double leg takedown but Line sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Felix somewhat.
Line doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Felix shoots in for a takedown but Line shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Felix changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Line tries to avoid it but Felix manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Line to the ground. Line escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Felix chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Line can pounce on him.
Felix shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Line pinned against the cage. Line gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Line dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Felix. That did some damage!
Line swats away the attempt to clinch by Felix.
Line looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Line, as that shot connected.

It looks like Tevin Felix has been cut.

Line looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Line pulls Felix in close to his closed guard and prevents Felix from doing any damage or advancing position.

Line is looking for a triangle but Felix pushes his legs off easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Line can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Felix controls the pace.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Felix's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Line working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Felix doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Felix manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Felix got a little sloppy there for a moment and Line has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Felix has managed to get both his arms back between Line's legs - danger averted.

Line is looking to sweep but instead, Felix has passed into half guard.
Felix seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Line does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Line has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Felix is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Line has managed to free his arm - good work.
Line is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Felix's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Felix's back!
Felix just trying to survive but Line is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Line is trying to stick to Felix's back but Felix is turning into Line. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Line's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Felix.
Felix keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Line's head.
Line controls Felix momentarily but Felix frees himself.
Line wants to sweep here but Felix controlling him for the moment.
Line is trying to control the position but Felix postures up.

Line has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Line there as he acknowledges the shot.

Felix shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Felix was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Line sneaks out the side door and pushes Felix away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Line throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Felix stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Line was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Gustav Line comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Line has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
