PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Scooter Steve (ranked 24712 p4p, 6816 weight class) and Will Jackson (ranked 367 p4p, 338 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scooter Steve!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A cross from Steve lands.
Steve keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson throws a jab when Steve was well out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Steve displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jackson throws out the jab.
Steve lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jackson at a distance.
Jackson misses with a hook.
Steve blocks a jab.
Steve is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

It looks like Scooter Steve has been cut.
Jackson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Steve manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Steve slips a jab from Jackson.
Steve throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Steve has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Training Grounds in the buildup to the fight.
Steve lands a lovely overhand right.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steve works Jackson's body with a nice hook.
Steve feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jacksons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A shot to the liver by Steve. Beautiful body shot.

Steve lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Steve tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jackson was well out of range. Poor timing from Steve.

Steve uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jackson.
Steve takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Steve slips the punch.
Steve takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Jackson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Steve avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Jab, jab by Steve - just one landing.
Jackson misses with a looping right.
Jackson thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jackson tests Steve's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Steve connects with a body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Steve lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jackson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jackson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Steve makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Steve avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Steve went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steve.
Steve swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Jackson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A decent looking cross lands there for Steve.
Steve cracks Jackson with a good jab.
Steve lands an overhand right.
Decent striking displayed by Steve there.
Jackson misses with an uppercut.
A telegraphed right hand from Jackson misses the target.

Jackson instigates a clinch.
Jackson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Jackson misses with some punches.
Jackson lands with a left to the head.
Jackson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Steve blocks an uppercut.

Steve throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Jackson misses with a short punch on the inside.
Steve lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Jackson misses with a hook to the ribs.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Will Jackson will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Scooter Steve's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Steve uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jackson has time to react.
Jackson misses with a straight left.
Steve appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Steve lands a nice shot to the body.
Steve connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jackson scores with a jab.

Steve is rocked!
Steve glances at the clock... BAM! Jackson nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Steve crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Steve is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Will Jackson!
