Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askrew (ranked 2851 p4p, 4989 weight class) and James Boxer (ranked 378 p4p, 0 weight class). James Boxer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Boxer!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Askrew. No joy for Boxer on that attempt.
Boxer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Boxer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Boxer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Askrew circles away.
Askrew wants to clinch.

Askrew takes the fight into the clinch.
Boxer tries to score a body lock takedown but Askrew shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Askrew seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Boxer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Boxer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Askrew counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Askrew.

Askrew is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Boxer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Boxer closes the distance and clinches up with Askrew, looking for a takedown. Boxer pushes Askrew against the cage but Askrew circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Boxer is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Askrew dives into side control.

Boxer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Askrew. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Askrew scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Boxer to see if he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Boxer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boxer is looking for a sweep.
Askrew wants to control but Boxer is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boxer looks to move to half guard but instead Askrew has passed into mount! Damn!
Ben Askrew overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boxer tries to hold on but Askrew pushes him away.
Askrew lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Askrew lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Askrew seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Askrew shoots in and drives through. Boxer sprawls well.
Boxer unleashes a big counter combination but Askrew bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

The fight stays on the outside here - Boxer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Askrew seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boxer for as long as he can get away with.
