PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Za Beast (ranked 3677 p4p, 3460 weight class) and Zoo Six (ranked 524 p4p, 502 weight class). Zoo Six told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Za Beast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zoo Six!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Six lands but Beast takes it in his stride.

Beast clinches up with Six and pushes him back against the cage.

and Beast counters with a shoot takedown. Six fights it but they end up in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Six can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Beast breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Six throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

so Beast counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beast slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Beast thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Beast is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Six has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Beast enables Six to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Beast manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Za Beast overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Six stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beast swivels though and keeps the full guard.
