Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Melo Motts (ranked 3626 p4p, 3074 weight class) and Reza Chas (ranked 429 p4p, 379 weight class). Melo Motts could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Reza Chas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Melo Motts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Reza Chas! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chas lands a nice leg kick that just misses Motts's sensitive parts. Motts closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chas circles away. Chas moves into the clinch. Chas missing with knees to the body.
Chas throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Motts blocks it with crossed arms. Motts stalls. Motts is trying to maintain a safe position but Chas gets an underhook and turns Motts into the cage. Motts content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Motts displaying some good clinch control by pressing Chas up against the cage. Motts gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Chas jumps guard but Motts turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Motts goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Chas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Motts is keeping busy. Knees to the body from Chas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Come on Motts - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Melo Motts. Motts shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chas sprawls well. Chas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Motts gets slowly back to his feet. Chas throws a nice head kick!
That's one minute gone in the round. Chas lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Melo Motts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chas chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Motts looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Chas throws a head kick that Motts semi-blocks.
Motts shoots in looking for a takedown but Chas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Motts's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Melo Motts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chas scores with a nice body kick.
Motts fails with a takedown attempt. Chas scores with a head kick. Motts tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Chas instigates a clinch. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Chas fails to pull guard.
Motts just leaning against Chas, taking a breather. Motts stalling in the clinch but Chas improves position. Chas told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Motts is pushing Chas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Melo Motts. Motts shoots for a takedown but Chas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Motts is defended easily by Chas. Motts shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chas as he jumps to the side. Chas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Chas keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
No luck for Motts with that takedown attempt. Chas lands a nice looking kick to the body. Motts takes a step back to recover. A slapping body kick lands there for Chas. Motts is breathing heavily. Motts takes a kick to the side of the head. Good leg kick by Chas. Chas connects with a high kick. Chas feints and then cracks Motts's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Motts down. Chas throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. A slapping leg kick lands for Chas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Motts shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chas as he avoids it easily. Motts looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chas is fending him off so far but Motts persists. Nope, Chas circles away and we're back to standing. Chas closes the distance and clinches. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Chas lands an elbow inside. Chas slowing the pace effectively. Motts is trying to maintain a safe position but Chas gets an underhook and turns Motts into the cage. Motts is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chas is defending well for now. Motts is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Chas scores with a knee to the head.
Chas unloads a knee to the mid-section. Chas jumps into guard, dragging Motts to the mat.
Motts got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Motts has managed to get both his arms back between Chas's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Motts doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Motts manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Motts slips nicely into half guard. Motts trying to pass the guard but Chas defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Motts controlling the pace. Chas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Motts is looking to take a break and control but Chas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are battling for position here. Chas manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chas keeping moving, preventing Motts from controlling successfully. Chas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Motts seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Reza Chas dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Motts tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chas swivels and escapes. Chas lands a head kick. Motts smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Motts shoots in looking for a takedown. Chas tries to sprawl out of it but Motts keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Chas thumps Motts with a low kick. Chas has been the more effective fighter overall so far. A left and a right from Chas both land. Nice combination. Motts drives through with a takedown into Chas's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Motts trying to control the position from guard on top but Chas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Motts tries to free his leg and advance position but Chas is retaining full guard. Motts loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Chas has his foot on Motts's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Motts works his way back into a safe position though. Chas throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Motts wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chas keeps working. Chas trying to control from the bottom.
Chas is staying active underneath Motts, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Chas tries to get to full guard but Motts has control of the leg. Motts is keen to just control but Chas is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Well, if Motts is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Motts fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Melo Motts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chas throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Motts darts in looking for a takedown but Chas gets double underhooks and turns Motts into the cage. Chas feints a counter leg kick. Motts takes a knee right on the jaw!

Reza Chas seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Chas crunches a lovely knee into Motts's ribcage. Motts is looking to break free of the clinch but Chas has double underhooks. Chas comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Chas lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Motts is trying to push Chas away but Chas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Motts is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Chas obliges. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Chas using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Motts manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Motts takes an elbow to the forehead. Chas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Motts walks away with a smile on his face. Chas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Motts shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chas pinned against the cage. Chas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Motts takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chas throws a nice head kick!

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Motts letting Chas take a breather here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Reza Chas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round! Chas delivers a nice body kick. Chas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Motts. Both fighters circling a little - Chas finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Chas with a nice calf kick. Reza Chas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Chas throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Motts's head. Chas lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Motts doesn't succeed with the takedown and Chas counters with a nice leg kick. A slapping leg kick lands for Chas.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Motts has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Chas. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chas fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Motts has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Chas with a nice calf kick. A nice leg kick from Chas, right into the meat of the thigh.
Motts will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Motts fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nice body kick from Chas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Motts tries to land knees in the clinch but Chas avoids the damage to the body. Motts is trying to maintain a safe position but Chas gets an underhook and turns Motts into the cage. Chas comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Motts looking to slow down the pace here. Motts tries to stall but Chas uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Motts is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chas's half guard. Chas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Chas actively working from the bottom here. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Motts in particular looking to stall. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Chas looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Motts performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Motts's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Chas is looking to control Motts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chas avoid being mounted? Motts is taking a breather. Chas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Chas wants to get back to full guard. Chas actively working from the bottom here. Motts keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Motts is looking to take a break and control but Chas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Motts prevents Chas from improving his position. Motts content to control rather than advance. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Melo Motts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Reza Chas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Chas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Motts controls the pace.
