Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Skellington (ranked 1175 p4p, 1968 weight class) and John Carter (ranked 179 p4p, 307 weight class). Carter has chosen I'll Kill You Motherf*cker as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Skellington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Carter! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter misses with an uppercut. Nice defenses there by Skellington. Skellington misses with a takedown and Carter counters with a nice uppercut. Skellington shoots in for a double leg but Carter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Skellington darts in looking for a takedown but Carter gets double underhooks and turns Skellington into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Skellington. That's going to take a lot out of him. Skellington jumps guard but Carter stands there with Skellington around his waist. Skellington gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Skellington takes a shot right to the bread basket. Carter scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Skellington looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Carter! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Skellington creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Carter sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Skellington has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carter is trying to control Skellington's posture but Skellington avoids it. Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skellington. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Skellington working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Skellington postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carter can do anything to dispel that myth. Skellington throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Skellington not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Skellington sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Carter defending well though. Skellington wants to pass the guard but Carter is defending well. Skellington thows a huge punch but Carter dodges it nicely.
Skellington is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Skellington is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Carter defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skellington thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Carter tries to roll over but Skellington keeps him under control. Skellington missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Carter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Carter has his hands clasped together around Skellington's back. Skellington postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Carter controlling Skellington's posture. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skellington accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Skellington lands a couple of digs. He's being very persistent here but Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Skellington has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Skellington seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Carter stays in close to Skellington's body and controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Skellington is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carter defends well. Carter is stalling in the full guard. Skellington is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carter advances to half guard. Carter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Skellington is pressing down on Carter's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Skellington working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Skellington is tightening it up a little... Carter has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Carter reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Carter taps out! Nice BJJ there by Skellington!
