The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Alopodis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Alopodis drives through with a takedown into Flowers's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Alopodis (2) vs (0) Flowers Alopodis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alopodis passes Flowers's left leg - he's now in half guard. Flowers trying to control from the bottom.
Alopodis works his foot free and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Alopodis (5) vs (0) Flowers The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Flowers is controlling an arm, preventing Alopodis from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flowers tries to hold on but Alopodis postures up. Flowers stops Alopodis from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flowers is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Alopodis looking to take Flowers's back but Flowers rolls and after a scramble, Flowers ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Flowers to escape a tricky position. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Alopodis (5) vs (2) Flowers Alopodis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Flowers defends well. Alopodis looking for a triangle here. Flowers is fighting it but it looks tight! Alopodis pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Flowers is tapping out - this one is all over!
