Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Dawson (ranked 2568 p4p, 4420 weight class) and Mike Carpenter (ranked 305 p4p, 505 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dave Dawson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpenter wants to clinch. Dawson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Carpenter lands a jab. Dawson throws a low kick but Carpenter avoids it. A telegraphed right hand from Carpenter misses the target. Mike Carpenter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dawson swats away the attempt to clinch by Carpenter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carpenter darts in and clinches Dawson up against the cage. Carpenter has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Dawson is trying to keep an underhook but Carpenter manages to get the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carpenter not landing any meaningful shots this time. Dawson is looking to improve his position.

Carpenter controlling the pace. Carpenter scoring with strikes to the body and head. Still in half guard, Carpenter seems content to control. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dawson gets caught napping as Carpenter dives in and scores a takedown. Dawson manages to retain guard. Carpenter is pushing down on Dawson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dawson is fighting to maintain full guard but Carpenter has managed to sneak the leg through. Dawson trying to control but Carpenter postures up.

Carpenter looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Carpenter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Carpenter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Carpenter landing with the ground and pound. Carpenter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dawson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dawson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dawson tries to get out of the position. Dawson gets full guard. Carpenter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carpenter is in close to Dawson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Dawson looking for a sweep. Not yet Dawson, not yet. Carpenter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Carpenter has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Let's hope that Carpenter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Dawson trying to control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpenter lands a couple of elbows. Carpenter wants to control from the top but Dawson keeps moving. Carpenter preventing the sweep. Carpenter's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Carpenter jabs Dawson to the body, keeping him at a distance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Carpenter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Carpenter stands up over Dawson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Carpenter is in close to Dawson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carpenter's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Carpenter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Carpenter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dawson is looking for a triangle but Carpenter pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carpenter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Carpenter slips nicely into half guard. Carpenter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dawson trying to control from the bottom.
Well, if Carpenter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Dawson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Carpenter doesn't seem bothered though. Carpenter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dawson. Carpenter drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dawson defends it well. Carpenter fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dawson to the ground. Carpenter is now in Dawson's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dawson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carpenter sitting in guard, not really doing much. Dawson seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Carpenter is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Dawson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carpenter defends it easily. Dave Dawson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dawson can't fight it off and eventually Carpenter manages to take the fight to the floor. Dawson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Carpenter slips nicely into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carpenter in particular looking to stall. Dawson is trying to maintain the position but Carpenter is very close to passing his half guard. Mike Carpenter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
And that's the end of the fight! Mike Carpenter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Carpenter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
