And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Antonio Walters! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? No luck with that takedown attempt from Sullivan. Walters fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sullivan keeps the fight on the outside. Walters moves in looking to clinch but Sullivan pushes him off. Walters clinches up against the cage. Sullivan has Walters pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walters manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Sullivan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Walters pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Sullivan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sullivan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sullivan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Walters wants to control from the top but Sullivan keeps moving. Walters is fighting to break Sullivan's control of his arms but Sullivan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sullivan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Sullivan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sullivan is pulling down on Walters's head to control his posture. Sullivan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Walters manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sullivan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Walters for as long as he can get away with. Sullivan drops back looking for a leg! Walters is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Walters manages to kick Sullivan off! Sullivan jumps back into Walters's guard. Sullivan content to stall in guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sullivan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Walters is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Sullivan just content to control the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walters can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Walters's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sullivan is staying tight to Walters's torso, preventing him from escaping.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. This is a sustained period of stalling by Sullivan. Walters tries to get back to half guard but can't. Sullivan controlling from the full mount. Walters is controlling an arm, preventing Sullivan from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Sullivan is stinking the place up with his stalling. Walters wants to control but Sullivan is having none of it. Walters stops Sullivan from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Sullivan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Sullivan wants to take Walters's back but he can't do it this time.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Sullivan controlling the position easily from mount. Walters is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag. Sullivan wants to take Walters's back here but Walters is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
