In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 4 losses; Eddie Gelfen! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 7 losses; Eliott Leighton!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gelfen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Leighton goes for a double leg but Gelfen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gelfen continues to drive forward.
Gelfen appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

We've been hearing good reports from Gelfen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Leighton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Leighton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gelfen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Leighton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gelfen is tightening it up a little... Leighton has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Leighton reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Leighton taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gelfen!

After the fight, Eddie Gelfen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
