This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 5 losses; Dez Havok! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Dennis Grande! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Grande shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Havok as he jumps to the side. Havok fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Havok closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Havok tries for a takedown but Grande manages to get underhooks.

Dez Havok has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Grande. Grande gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Havok (0) vs (2) Grande Havok preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Grande seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Havok does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grande is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round. Havok controlling the position for now. Havok is staying active underneath Grande, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Havok is looking to improve his position.
Grande is looking to stall here but Havok recovers full guard. Grande looking to sit in guard and control but Havok gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. That's three minutes gone in the round. Havok seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Grande for as long as he can get away with. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grande actively working from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Havok trying to pass the guard but Grande defending well. Grande is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Havok jumps into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Havok (5) vs (2) Grande Havok taking a breather here. That's five minutes gone in the round. Havok controls the position from side control. Grande can't do much from the bottom here. Grande tries to improve position but can't. Havok staying calm. Grande tries to bench press Havok off him but Havok keeps the position.

Grande might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Havok haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Havok taking a breather here. That's seven minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Grande's face as Havok controls the position. Grande is trying to control Havok's posture but Havok avoids it. Grande tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Havok wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The referee asks Havok politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Havok prefers to stall for the moment though. Grande is sneaking out the side here. That's eight minutes gone in the round. Grande working for a choke but Havok is defending well. Grande tries to keep control of the position but Havok is staying busy. Havok tries to roll but Grande sticks to his back.
Havok is having to fend off submission attempts from Grande, who is looking to sink in the choke. Grande doesn't have the hooks in though and Havok manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Havok (7) vs (6) Grande Havok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Grande tries to land a sweep but no joy. Havok is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Havok pushes down on Grande's leg and manages to get into half guard. Grande looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Havok is taking a breather. Grande says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Havok looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Grande wants to control but Havok is keeping busy and won't allow it. Grande manages to get to full guard.
Grande is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Havok stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grande swivels though and keeps the full guard. Havok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Grande wants to sweep but no luck.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Grande looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Grande can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Havok controls the pace. Grande looking for a guillotine here but Havok defends easily.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Grande is trying to maintain the position but Havok is very close to passing his half guard. Havok passes to full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Havok (10) vs (6) Grande Grande is looking to get to half guard. Grande is just holding on here. Havok manages to take his back.

Havok's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Havok continues to stall. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Havok is trying to stick to Grande's back but Grande is turning into Havok. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Havok's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Grande.
