Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Paris (ranked 489 p4p, 2391 weight class) and Martin Alexander (ranked 73 p4p, 325 weight class). Alexander has chosen Kurt Kobain as his entrance music. Martin Alexander has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Marco Paris! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Alexander! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paris stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Paris wants to clinch up but Alexander keeps it at a distance. Alexander doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Alexander uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Paris.
Paris keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Paris looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Paris drives through and clinches with Alexander against the cage.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Alexander. Paris lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Alexander backwards. Paris has Alexander pushed against the cage. Paris lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Alexander backwards. Alexander misses with a body punch.
Alexander escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paris shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alexander's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Paris pushing down on Alexander's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Paris is trying to control. Alexander wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Alexander wants to get back to his feet. Alexander is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Paris scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paris throws a strike but Alexander avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Paris tries to free his leg and advance position but Alexander is retaining full guard. Alexander utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alexander keeping moving, preventing Paris from controlling successfully. Alexander really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Alexander keeping full guard, as Paris tries to pass. Paris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Paris trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Alexander keeping moving, preventing Paris from controlling successfully. Paris postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Paris lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Paris sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alexander's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paris tries to pass to full mount but Alexander defends it. Paris with the ground and pound but Alexander uses the opportunity to regain guard. Paris pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alexander is keeping the position for now. Paris lands a couple of decent looking shots. Paris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Paris throwing strikes from guard but Alexander blocks nicely. Paris trying to control the position from guard on top but Alexander is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Paris is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Alexander avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Paris throws a big right hand that misses. Paris trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Paris throws a big elbow that misses. Paris missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Paris wants to control from the top but Alexander keeps moving. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Paris throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Marco Paris dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Paris tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Paris is looking to clinch but Alexander is avoiding it.

Paris lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Paris cracks Alexander with a right hand to the side of the head.
Alexander is rocked! Crack! Paris connects with the perfect overhand right and Alexander falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Paris!
