Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fekkus Lasombra (ranked 1701 p4p, 2257 weight class) and Markos Hadjilis (ranked 257 p4p, 337 weight class). Fekkus Lasombra had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fekkus Lasombra! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Markos Hadjilis! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lasombra throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hadjilis looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Lasombra missing with a left hand there. Hadjilis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Hadjilis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lasombra manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Lasombra moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Markos Hadjilis has been cut. Lasombra throws a looping overhand right but Hadjilis ducks down to avoid it. Hadjilis is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Fekkus Lasombra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lasombra throws an off balance right hand
and Hadjilis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hadjilis closes the distance and clinches. Lasombra misses with some punches.
Lasombra lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hadjilis or not. Hadjilis struggles to land a body shot inside as Lasombra controls his hands.
Hadjilis throws a punch but it's blocked by Lasombra. Hadjilis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Hadjilis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lasombra to keep the fight standing. Lasombra blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Hadjilis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lasombra's elbow. Hadjilis lands a right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lasombra doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hadjilis throws a punch but it's blocked by Lasombra. Lasombra misses with a hook from the clinch. Lasombra working aggressively here.

Lasombra tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Lasombra. Lasombra breaks from the clinch.

and Hadjilis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hadjilis defending well as Lasombra loads up on a big left hand. Hadjilis misses with a straight right. A little feinted left hand from Lasombra on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Lasombra lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lasombra ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Hadjilis throws a head kick that misses. Lasombra circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lasombra thows a left - swing and a miss! Hadjilis thumps Lasombra with a low kick. Lasombra misses the shot to the body. Hadjilis swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. We've been told by Lasombra's head coaches at The Abyss that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Hadjilis wants to clinch and Hadjilis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hadjilis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hadjilis wants to counter with a clinch but Lasombra pushes him away. Lasombra takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Lasombra lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Hadjilis falls backwards - clearly groggy! Lasombra dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fekkus Lasombra! Fekkus Lasombra retains his middleweight title! An out of breath Fekkus Lasombra thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
